 BIHAR

Bihar, state of eastern India. It is bounded by Nepal to the north and by the Indian state of West Bengal to the notheast and Uttar Pradesh to the west. On 22 March 1912, Bihar was carved out as a separate province in the British Indian Empire. Since 1947 independence, Bihar has been an original state of the Indian Union.



Bihar was known as Magadh in ancient times. It was a center of power, learning and culture. The Maurya empire as well as one of the world's greatest pacifist religions, Buddhism, arose from Magadha.
The word 'Bihar' has originated from the Sanskrit and Pali word 'Vihara' meaning ''adobe''. 



Bihar has a total geographical area of about 93.60 lakh hectare, and its population is 10,40,99,452.
According to area 12th and in population 3rd position of Bihar in India.

Capital:-

Patna, an ancient Pataliputra, city, capital of Bihar state, northern India. It lies about 290 miles (470 km) northwest of Kolkata (Calcutta). Patna is one of the oldest cities in India.




Languages:-
People here speak in Hindi, Urdu, Magahi, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Angika, bajjika as a main languages.



Universities:-

Bihar is home to 4 Central Universities, 8 Institutes of National Importance, 2 Deemed Universities, 18 State Universities, 2 Centrally Funded Eminent Institutes and 7 Private Universities.



Ruins of Nalanda is the most ancient University of the world. That time student came to thier studies from other countries like Landon, China, Japan and so on.   

Rivers:-

While talking about the state of Bihar, a total of twenty-one rivers flow in that state. The most important river in the state of Bihar is River Ganga. The other rivers are the Sone, Poonpoon, Falgu, Karmanasa, Ghaghara, Kosi, Durgawati, Gandak etc.
