Kaimur Range

     Kaimur Range

 Kaimur Range is the eastern portion of the Vindhya Range, about 483 kilometer long, extending from around Katangi in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh to around Sasaram in Rohtas district of Bihar. It is passes through the Rewa and Mirzapur division.

  • River - Sone, Tamsa or Tons, Ken, Karamnasa and Durgawati 
  • Range coordinates - 24°35'N 82°04'E 

The stones of this mountain are used in domestic equipment like mill used to grind wheat, crease and so on. Raw materials for making lime and cement is available from this stone. Sone Ganga fertilizer is also made from its dust. On this mountain there is a medicine trees, fruits, flowers, trees are present in more quantity and the habitat of the wild animals.There are many beautiful natural waterfalls and very dense forest on this mountain. 

The mountains of Kaimur are also associated with religious and historical things. 


Some religious places :-

  • Ma Tara Chandi -- 

Mother's body is worshiped here.

  • Tutleshawari Mata --

This is the idol of Kaimur which came out from the womb of the mountain.

  • Mundeshawari Mata --

Here the system of sacrificing a goat to the mother is different. Here the goat is put to sleep for some time in the court of Mata, as a result of which the goat becomes unconscious, this process is liked by Mata which is true.

  • Gupta-Dham --

Once upon a time Bhashmasur pleased Lord Shiva on the strengh of penance, after that Shivaji asked him to ask for a boon. Lord Shiva gave the boon by saying 'Tathastu' but Bhashmasur said that I will use it on you. Hearing this, Lord Shiva started running and reached the cave which is today known as Gupta-Dham.

Devotees visit on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

  • Manjhar Kund & Dhua Kund --

In both these places, tourists go for a picnic in the reservoir during the rainy season.

This ghat is the monastery of hermit.

The remains of this fort are situated in Sahasaram in Madhya Pradesh.

  • Raja Harishchandra ka kila --

This is also known as Rohtas Kila. This fort was built by Rohit, the son of King Harishchandra. This fort is built in 84 kos.
